The stage is set for the official opening of the 2nd ECOWAS Lassa Fever International Conference (ELFIC 2025), as delegates, experts, and partners gather in Abidjan for four days of critical dialogue and action on combatting lassa fever and emerging infectious diseases.

Organized by the West African Health Organisation (WAHO) in partnership with key global and regional health institutions, the conference will take place from the 8th to the 11th of September 2025, in Radisson Blu Hotel, Abidjan Airport, Côte d’Ivoire.

Today, some participants have been arriving at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Abidjan Airport, the venue that will host this high-level convening. The atmosphere has been marked by anticipation, collaboration, and a shared commitment to advancing regional health security.

In the hallways and lounges, early conversations are already unfolding. Some experts reconnecting, policymakers exchanging ideas, and partners mapping out collaborations even before the official day of opening. These informal moments underline the spirit of “Beyond Borders,” the official theme of the conference.

📸 [Set-Up & Last-Minute Planning]
Behind the scenes, teams have been working tirelessly. The final touches on conference halls, technical rehearsals for presentations, and last-minute planning meetings reflect the precision and scale of an event that brings together some of the region’s leading voices on Lassa fever and emerging diseases.

📸 [Journalists Prepping]
The press corps is equally primed. Journalists sponsored from across the region were spotted testing equipment, setting up cameras, and preparing to provide live coverage and in-depth reporting, ensuring that the discussions and outcomes reach far beyond the conference and make the rightful impact.

As the opening ceremony approaches, anticipation builds for the official start of ELFIC 2025.

The conference halls will feature plenary sessions, scientific presentations, workshops, and high-level policy discussions — all aimed at shaping a stronger, more coordinated response to Lassa fever and other infectious disease threats in West Africa.
