Activities for Mental Health Day, Week Celebration 2016


The Mental Health Authority(MHA) has announced to the general public a line up of activities to commemorate the 2016 Mental Health Day which falls on October 10.

The day is expected to be marked with a National week long celebration from the 9th to the 16th of October, in partnership with the WHO, UKAID and other allied health groups.

This years celebration is under the theme “Dignity in Mental Health; Psychological & Mental Health First AID For All.”

What do-you-know on GTV, Accra (Live) – Sunday 9th October

Press Launch at the International Press Centre, Accra. – Monday 10th October

Public Lecture at British Council, Accra. – Tuesday 11th October

Open day at all Mental Health facilities. – Wednesday 12th October

Nationwide Health education and awareness. –Thursday 13th October

Meeting with Upper West Traditional council – Friday 14th October

Float and Durbar at Jubilee Park, Wa. – Saturday 15th October

Thanksgiving Service at a Roman Catholic Church, Wa –Sunday 16th October

The Mental Health Authority calls on all to join this year’s Mental Health Week celebrations to promote social and emotional wellbeing of our communities, educate the citizenry to be aware of the effect of mental disorders on their wellbeing and enhance the coping capacity of individuals and families in our societies.
